Farm Tours

Basic Farm Tour ($10/person) - Learn all about alpacas while we venture out into the pastures in a free range setting. You will be provided with a cup of grain to hand feed the yearling boys with. After we feed the "little boys", we'll go to the girls' side where the pond is. You can visit with the alpacas, play on the beach, look for frogs in the pond, and even have the option to go on a canoe ride! If you're up for a little exercise, we can take a walk around the pond. Once you've had your fill of the great outdoors, we will head back to the shop. In the shop, you'll get to see all the products we make with our alpaca's fiber, and I'll even demonstrate how to use a drum carder to prepare the fiber for spinning and felting.  Anyone over age 8 can try needle felting, and make a 4"x6" needle felted picture with alpaca fiber to take home!  If you're under age 8, or just don't really want to felt, you can make an alpaca fiber bird nesting ball to hang in your tree for the birds.  Birds love to use alpaca fiber in their nests, it's fun to watch them collect it.

Adult Alpaca Adventure Tour (aka Margarita Tour, $25/person - ages 21 & up) - For this tour you get to do ALL the things included in the Basic and Felting tour, plus you will be provided with a cold bottled margarita from Los Charros in Carthage, IL (bring a cup of ice if you want ice). While you are venturing around the pond and/or chillin' on the beach, be on the lookout for Easter eggs filled with coupons to the farm store (one might even have a free gift)!

Tours generally last about 2-5 hours, depending on the type of tour and how much fun you're having. We have hand wipes, hand sanitizer, and an outhouse available. We also have a picnic table if you want to pack sack lunches. A cold water hose is available to hose off muddy kids if you have lots of fun and get muddy in the pond. I'm working on getting a solar powered shower to rinse off in, but not sure when I will have it set up.
